Calling all Virtual Assistants and Online Support Professionals…

Are you looking to add another in-demand & specialized skill your ‘Hot Skills’ portfolio?

Announcing the ‘Website & Blog Design for
Virtual Assistants
‘ course

…for VAs and other online support professionals who want to learn how to use Dreamweaver and WordPress to offer a complete level of service to their clients…

From the desk of: Cindy Greenway

Dear Fellow VA,

  • Do you wish you were able to do basic website maintenance for your clients (and yourself?)
  • Are you tired of having to wait hours (sometimes days!) for your already busy webmaster to be able to make a small change on your client’s websites?
  • Are you losing potential clients because you aren’t yet able to offer blog setup and website maintenance along with your current repetoire of skills?

Clients Prefer to Hire a Virtual Assistant Who is Able to Take Care of all Their Needs – Not Just a Few Things Here and There.

You may already know all the ‘hot skills’ that clients are hiring for (shopping cart, autoresponders and such). The problem is, if you are missing basic blog and website design skills then you are only able to take most of your projects 95% of the way to the finish line.

  • You can setup a new product in the shopping cart, but have to send the ‘buy button’ code to a webmaster to load up onto the webpage.
  • You can gather everything needed for a free teleseminar registration page but are unable to actually put together a simple webpage so that people can start signing up.
  • You can create an online recording play button and MP3 download but are not able to load the button up to the playback webpage.
  • You know how to use a blog but are unable to install, setup and maintain a blog based site for your clients.

The Result Is A Headache for All Concerned…

Without these skills, it means that you are always having to bring in a third-party person (a webmaster or other web design professional) every time you need to make a change to your client’s websites.

Not only does this mean more delay in the process (with changes sometimes taking much longer than you would like!) there is more room for error when you have more people involved.

Let’s take a look at a couple of scenarios:

Working WITHOUT basic web design skills…

Your client is doing a teleseminar next week and asks you to make sure their teleseminar page gets updated with the new date, description and registration information. You send the information to their webmaster, who turns out to be super busy and promises she will try to get to it tomorrow.

It’s tomorrow and you are begging the webmaster to make these changes… at the very end of the day she finally has some time for you. Great! She sends you the updated page that night and much to your dismay you find out that she accidently put the wrong date on the page.

You call her the next morning and end up leaving a voicemail asking her to make this one last change as your client wants to announce the teleseminar right away. By noon you still haven’t heard from her and remember that today is a non-working day for her… yipes! You aren’t sure how to make the changes yourself, and your client is getting upset with the delay.

Later that night the webmaster logs onto her computer and is quickly able to make that change for you. The page is FINALLY ready to send – a couple days later than your client wanted. If only you could have made these changes yourself! It would have saved alot of frustration for both you and your client.

Working WITH basic web design skills…

Your client is doing a teleseminar next week and asks you to make sure their teleseminar page gets updated with the new date, description and registration information. You create a new teleseminar page from her existing website template or blog template, load it up and test it. Everything looks great, and the teleseminar is ready to announce the same day.

DONE! No fuss no muss (and less grey hair for you!)

These two scenarios speak for themselves – having basic blog and website design skills will help both your and your clients to complete projects in a much more timely manner.

With basic website & blog design skills in your Virtual AssistantPortfolio you can add a ‘full meal deal’ level of service (which clients love!)

Here are a few of the things that you will be able to do once you have basic website design and maintenance skills under your belt.

You will learn how to use Dreamweaver to:

  • make simple changes to existing webpages – know how to work CORRECTLY within your clients existing website design templates so you can make simple changes and not mess up their website
  • create teleseminar registration webpages – taking the ‘custom form’ code from the shopping cart and creating an automated registration page that is ready to promote
  • setup a basic ‘pink spoon’ lead generation webpage – so that your clients can start to build their list as part of their overall marketing strategy
  • setup a simple sales page – given sales copy from your client you will be able to create an effective sales page using a template we will provide in the training
  • create a newsletter or ezine template – using our simple ezine template you will be able to insert a header and basic graphics to create a professional ezine for your clients

You will learn how to use WordPress to:

  • install and setup a WordPress blog site for your clients – so they can reap the benefits of blogging in their business
  • make simple customizations to WordPress Themes – and give them a website that matches the look and feel of their current branding.
  • install plug-ins and widgets – that will give the blog a high level of functionality and leverage content

This is the only Website & Blog Design class created especially for Virtual Assistants!

There are certainly plenty of web design courses out there, most of which will teach you how to design a website from scratch. As a VA you simply don’t need to know how to do that, as most of your clients already have a website – they just need someone to make ongoing changes and updates to their existing website.

So why waste valuable time, money and effort learning skills that you don’t need? We are huge fans of keeping it simple, and as such will be teaching you the basic website design and maintenance skills that we KNOW clients are looking for.

During this training you will learn:

  • HTML code basics, so you understand the language ‘behind’ the webpage
  • how to apply Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) as a best practice in website design and to customize WordPress based blog sites
  • how to use FREE FTP software to upload and download pages
  • why Dreamweaver is the web design software we use and recommend (and why you should stay away from Frontpage)
  • how to work with a client’s existing website template, so that you can make changes and don’t mess up their design (we’ve seen this happen time and again when a VA does not truly understand basic website design.)
  • how to add a simple opt-in form to their existing website, or to a simple ‘pink spoon’ lead generation page
  • how to setup a sales page using a pre-defined template that we will give to you in this training
  • how to setup and make basic changes within a WordPress blog template (called a theme) so that you can add things like opt-in pages, plugins and more

For That Matter – Let’s Be Clear on What This Course is NOT:

This course will not teach you how to design a website from scratch. We are NOT going to teach you how to create graphics, how to cut up a design and put it together into an overall website template. Those are the skills of a website graphic designer, not a VA (and if you are interested in those skills there are plenty of courses out there to learn them).

And this course will only cover ‘on page’ website design and maintenance – we will not be teaching you how to use the shopping cart, autoresponders and other online based systems that function behind the scenes of our webpages. If you are interested in learning those skills

I invite you to check out our Hot Skills VA Training Ecommerce Specialist Program.

The videos and class notes are a hugely valuable resource. If you’re looking for a way to increase your value to your clients or you want to broaden your career path, I highly recommend taking the Hot Skills VA Training!”

“There are very few resources in which VA’s help other VA’s to succeed and remain a constant support to each other. [Generally] top VA’s are not willing to help other VA businesses, let alone set up a structured course that is more affordable than paying for hourly VA coaching.

Tina and Cindy teach the knowledge VA’s need to know to start and keep a successful VA business, and they are also eager to answer any questions we may have, at any time. (I constantly ask questions, even if they aren’t out loud, and I felt encouraged to ask if I didn’t understand something and not feel bad if I didn’t catch on as quickly as my classmates).”

I’ll be quite honest – I am not equipped to teach this course!

Although I have some website design and maintenance skills, I am a bit ‘behind the times’ when it comes to knowing the best practices for doing proper website maintenance.

Which is why I am THRILLED to have the lovely Sandra De Freitas of WPBlogSites.com joining us as the instructor for this program.

Sandra De Freitas

is a top tech coach, speaker, trainer, author and expert in internet technology. She is the founder of WPBlogsites.com and TechCoachForCoaches.com, two successful coaching, consulting and training firms.

In 2008 she authored the book “Does This Blogsite Make My Wallet Look Fat? How to use a WordPress Blogsite to make money, attract clients and gain expert celebrity status”. The 2nd edition of her book

has just recently been released.

Sandra specializes in WordPress blogsites and extending their functionality with exceptional WordPress plugins such as WishList Member. Sandra is WishList Member Certified. Her technology expertise is second only to her wicked sense of humour and contagious enthusiasm. Have you ever attended an event with Sandra?
